Bladen Wines

In 1989, Chris and Dave Macdonald embarked on a journey to fulfill their dream of establishing a vineyard and winery, leaving behind their city lives. After a national tour with a caravan in tow, they settled in Marlborough, where they planted their Wairau Valley vineyard by hand, initially supplying grapes to local wineries before launching their own wines under the Bladen name. Renowned for crafting exceptional cool climate wines, the name "Bladen" pays homage to their children, Blair and Deni, who were toddlers when the vineyard was established. As pioneers of the Marlborough winegrowing region, Chris and Dave proudly contributed to its growth, joining just eight other wineries in the district at the time of their establishment.
